Despite a usual afternoon thunderstorm, we had a great turnout at the July 11th meeting! We had lots of fun door prizes and great guest speakers. Of course, everyone was a winner who attended the meeting!

We had a number of success stories including the trustees from a Family Trust who laid out their expenses and profit - ~$25k of a house that they purchased subject to the existing financing. This led to a long discussion of buying properties in trust and also using subject to the existing financing.
Our next meeting is August 1st!
Thank you to all the volunteers who showed up to work at the Centerville Post Office. We promised 20 volunteers and we did it! It was a HARD job and we had to hustle like crazy between 2:30 and 5:00 when the majority of the mail trucks came pulling in! Sadly, that was the same time the pizza came!

We made short work of the demo and filled the trailer full!
Then before the rebuild started, we had to move supplies closer. The concrete was 80lbs a bag. The ladies gladly followed Mark's orders that we could not carry bags of concrete - especially Amber who might weigh as much as the bag itself!

Thank you to everyone who donated food items Tuesday night at the meeting! We collected 116 pounds of food!
Mark and I met with Jim Croteau, the Interim Chief Executive Officer and delivered the food.
Afterwards Jim gave us a tour of the facility.
It is a huge warehouse with coolers and freezers!
BRRRRRRR! It is -4 degrees in here! Grocery stores freeze their meat before its sell by date and then donated the items to 2nd Harvest.
2nd Harvest has to fundraise $1.7 million dollars to be able to distribute 1 million pounds a food a year. The food goes to faith based food clinic and other social programs.
They provide 700 backpacks of food weekly for children. These bags of food cost $5.40 per child and are distributed to children who have been identified by their teachers as not having enough food during the weekends.
They also provide backpacks of food for senior citizens. Sadly, they had to stop because they did not have enough money to buy the food to fill the packs. Luckily some churches stepped in and raised $40,000 to provide meals.

Mark and I are hoping people will join us in 2016 and volunteer to sort and pack food one morning.
"Seminole Jim" (Air Control Heating and Cooling) invited Mark and myself to join him, his wife Judy, and their next door neighbor at the University Club for a networking event.
It was a wonderful event - lots and lots of delicious food and interesting people. The views were incredible!
